Friday night, March 24th, 2017, the HMI Buzz crew, Oz’mosis, Jonel, Bendji and I, Craft, travelled from Palm Beach County to Miami to cover the Harmonik and Enposib event at Moca Café. It wasn’t the best time to be on the road. We avoided at least 7 close calls on the trip there. An angel was in the car that night watching over us. Thank God we made it safe to Moca.
At first glance, I realized Moca Cafe was directly facing the North Miami Police Department. Hence, you can rest assured there was no shortage of security. Once we all arrived, Oz’mosis made a quick call and within 10 mins we were in. It was 10:47 PM, Enposib which was scheduled to perform first was doing a sound-check. We scaled the place and discussed how we were going to capture the highlight of the night. There had to be less than one hundred people in the club by the time it reached 11:00 PM.
Jonel, the HMI Buzz lead photographer, was taking photos, Bendji was recording videos, and I was with my notepad taking notes of the environment and everything taking place. There were a few things I really loved about the Moca Café. Everyone was well-dressed, the bartenders were very presentable and the fact that there were several bars was definitely a plus in my book.
Now let us talk about the performance of Enposib, the Haitian Compas band from Canada. Let me tell you, they have what it takes to rise and become something truly special in HMI. They have a very unique sound, blending of Compas, Zouk, and Hip-hop, all into one sound. They began their set with their hit, Bo’m Sou 2 Bo, which automatically got their female fans in front of the stage singing along with the band’s charismatic lead singer, Midji.
One other thing that was spectacular, was the contagious chemistry the team possesses. I’m talking about great synchronization. The band’s pianist, Jude Severe, and the lead singer Medji tag-teamed like something you see in a Wrestling match, they assisted each other and switched roles in perfect transition throughout. Jude appeared to be very skillful, you would find him dancing while playing. At one point of the night, he put his head under the piano while still playing. He even played with his back turned and so much more. The conga player also made their set fun to watch, as he left his instrument a few times and came to the front of the stage to show off his unique dance. All in all, Enposib brought it to Moca. They weren’t there just singing and playing music, they were actually performing. And that ladies and Gentleman, is one for the Books.
